EPS sandwich panels are a modern building material composed of outer steel sheets on both sides with an expanded polystyrene core. The panels are bonded and pressed using computer controlled machinery, resulting in high strength and a smooth surface finish.
The panel wall has a density of approximately 800 kg/m³, making it lighter than conventional walls. With a thickness of 75 mm, the weight per square meter is around 54 kg—significantly lighter compared to traditional red brick masonry, which weighs approximately ±250 kg/m².
One of the key advantages of panel systems is installation speed. Within one day, a team of four workers can install up to 40 m² of wall or floor slab. Once installed, the surface can be used immediately without waiting several days, unlike conventional cast-in-place methods.
The panels are made from fire-resistant materials. When exposed to temperatures up to 1,043°C on the inner side, test results show that the temperature on the outer side reaches only 80°C. This is well below the maximum allowable limit of 203°C.
With a styrofoam core inside, the panels effectively reduce heat transfer into the building. Heat propagation tests have been conducted by Puskim Bandung, confirming the panel’s strong insulating performance.

Despite being lightweight, the panels offer structural strength comparable to lightweight concrete blocks or red bricks. They also provide flexural strength that is not found in either lightweight blocks or conventional red bricks.
